Logistics Engineer - Tallapoosa, GA

CEVA Logistics US Inc. is seeking a Logistics Engineer to work in our Tallapoosa, GA location.  This position will assist in the development of logistics and supply chain solutions for our customer. 

 

JOB SUMMARY:  

Provides various levels of professional engineering analysis, cost and operational forecasts, and identifies, describes and presents areas for opportunity and improvement.  Develops reports, findings and recommendations and secures project and resource requirements. 

 

The Logistics Engineer path has four levels of responsibility, Engineer I, Engineer II, Engineer III and Senior Engineer.  Each level has increasing levels of understanding and application of related engineering principles, project and management involvement, and degree of analytics, design and solutions.   

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Logistics Engineer II

Summary:  Provides more complex professional logistics and transportation engineering functions, collects and analyzes various data, determines solutions and develops reports, proposals, and related information.  Performs activities that involve the application of more complex engineering principles and practices, project management functions, as developing moderate cost or operational models. 

  • Collects, reviews, and analyzes logistic and operational system data; involves more complex logistics and transportation engineering principles and practices.
  • Determines solutions or changes to current or proposed system operations to ensure efficient results; projects are typically more complex in nature and may assist with more specialized operations.
  • Develops cost models, assumptions and risks for projects that are typically moderate in scope; receives assistance or direction as required.
  • Develops project, improvement, or current/future state proposals or presentations for customers or management for projects under scope.
  • Identifies and delivers project milestones, communicating with stakeholders, removing obstacles and ensuring resources are available. 
  • Develops or recommends standard operating procedures, work instructions, and related materials.
  • Outlines and performs work, time, and efficiency studies, talks with supervisors and employees, and discusses with customers to apply and monitor operations.
  • Ensures processes and operations complies with applicable laws, rules and regulations; seeks advice and interpretation when required and applies across operations. 
  • Coordinates with related safety, quality, environmental and related needs as requested or required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Logistics Engineer III

Summary:  Provides more comprehensive to specialized logistics and transportation engineering functions, assists with serving as a lead to staff and leads or coordinates various projects or functions.  Performs activities that involve the application of more comprehensive to specialized engineering principles and practices, developing metrics and proposals, and coordinating internal resources as required.

  • Assists with training and developing engineering staff to include on the job training, reviewing work and studies, and assisting with feedback.
  • Performs more comprehensive engineering analytics and system reviews, such as collecting, reviewing, and analysing data, forecasts, and related information.
  • Develops proposals or reports to outline current or proposed engineered designs, layouts, capacity, equipment, and operations; operations are more comprehensive in nature.
  • Prepares presentations for senior management regarding recommendations of studies and projects; may assist with presenting information.
  • Coordinates cost models, assumptions and risks for projects that are typically larger in scope.
  • Leads and/or develops standard operating procedures, work instructions, and related materials.
  • Coordinates the planning or outline of work, time, and efficiency studies, talks with supervisors and employees, and discusses with customers to apply and monitor operations.
  • Identifies and delivers on project milestones, communicating with stakeholders, removing complex obstacles and ensuring a variety of resources are available. 
  • Ensures processes and operations complies with applicable laws, rules and regulations; seeks advice and interpretation when required and applies across operations.
  • Develops specialized or more comprehensive metrics and goals for programs, oversees performance, and works with staff when potential problems are identified to bring to resolution.
  • Coordinates internal resources to respond to internal or external customer requests, such as gathering, analyzing and summarizing information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education and experience.  Master’s Degree in related field is preferred.  

 

Experience:

Analyst II: Typically at least two years of experience required.

Analyst III: Typically at least five years of experience, including some specialized or complex work.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

 

Engineer II

  • Applying fundamental professional industrial or mechanical engineering principles and practices.
  • Understanding more complex professional industrial or mechanical engineering principles and practices.
  • Utilizing systems and databases for engineering management.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of complex databases through auditing, reviews, and analysis.
  • Understanding of applicable laws, rules and regulations with the ability apply within area of assignment.
  • Developing complex analytics, reports and communications within engineering and operational design.
  • Developing more complex cost and operational forecasts.
  • Determining metrics and measurements for transportation and logistics programs. 
  • Communicating complex transportation and logistics information.
  • Operating in a both a team and individual contributor environment.
  • Identifying and communicating potential operational or analytical concerns and assisting with change management.
  • Developing engineering reports and presentations.

 

Engineer III

  • Applying specialized professional industrial or mechanical engineering principles and practices.
  • Understanding specialized professional industrial or mechanical engineering principles and practices.
  • Leveraging several systems and databases for engineering management.
  • Overseeing and ensuring the accuracy of specialized databases through auditing, reviews, and analysis.
  • Ensuring operations comply with applicable laws, rules and regulations with the ability to apply across operations.
  • Developing specialized analytics, reports and communications within engineering and operational design.
  • Developing complex and related specialized cost and operational forecasts.
  • Determining metrics and measurements for transportation and logistics programs. 
  • Communicating specialized engineering and operational information.
  • Operating in a both a team and individual contributor environment.
  • Identifying and communicating potential operational or analytical concerns and facilitating change management.
  • Developing and delivering engineering reports and presentations.
  • Facilitating communication cross customers, operations and other groups.

 

Licenses and Certifications: Professional certification may be required in some areas.

 

Travel Requirements:  Travel is typically not required.
