General Ledger Accountant Payroll - Houston, TX

Job Summary

 

CEVA Logistics is currently hiring a General Ledger Accountant located in Houston, TX. Responsible for reviewing and approving reconciliations and analysis of complex general ledger accounts; preparation of accruals, allocations and journal entries; review and analysis of the business units’ financial statements; and ensure compliance with internal policies and IFRS and Sarbanes Oxley.   

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Execute monthly accounting procedures for various entities in the business unit.
  • Perform monthly reporting and analysis for assigned business units.
  • Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules.
  • Review and approve balance sheet account reconciliations and ensure all reconciling items are resolved timely and all appropriate journal entries recorded.
  • Analyze preliminary Profit & Loss variances, research discrepancies and post monthly corrections.
  • Communicate with business units, foreign offices and corporate departments regarding daily accounting issues.
  • Maintain accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure IFRS and Sarbanes Oxley compliance.
  • Perform accounting research and implementation of new standards as required.
  • Proactively identify and implement process improvements, leveraging technology.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and analysis timely.
  • Coach and develop operational personnel on financial processes and financial report interpretation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

 Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Minimum four years related accounting experience preferred
  • Minimum two years industry experience preferred. 
  • Public accounting experience is preferred.

 

Certifications and Licenses

  • Not required, but preference will be given to holders of a professional accounting certifications

 

Languages and Communication Skills

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with people from multi-functional and diverse backgrounds. 
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, employees and vendors.

Computer Skills

  • Computer literate
  • Advanced level proficiency in Microsoft Office products, internet, web-based and job specific software applications including Oracle.

 

Other Skills/Experience

  • In-depth knowledge and solid experience in general accounting, monthly close and financial reporting.
  • Advanced knowledge of business finance and International Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Knowledgeable of Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects with competing priorities.
  • Ability to meet established deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and interact professionally with all levels of the organization.
  • Requires strong attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
